Match report v., Ferryside 2.9.17

Cwmgwrach v Ferryside 2.9.17

Referee: Neil Perkins Pontypridd.

The two teams face one another for the first time in the league.

A hard fought game resulted in a win for league newcomers Ferryside.

Both teams gave their all with the Ferryside scrum a high point of their game. Cwmgwrach showed hard work and a solid defence in the face of tough opponents. Despite some excellent turnover ball from Cwmgwrach Ferryside ended the first half on a penalty try and a score of 0-10 to the visitors.

2nd half started with a further try and conversion by Ferryside.

A display of ill-discipline early in the 2nd half resulted in two yellow cards for Cwmgwrach players Mark and Luke Williams (who are apparently not related!)

In the space of 12 minutes Ferryside scored and converted a further two tries.

Cwmgwrach rallied and Peter Davies drove through for Cwmgwrach's first try concverted by Dai Watkins, closely followed by a further try and conversion from Ferryside.

With 15 men back on the field Cwmgwrach showed some significant improvements in their scrum and the day ended on a positive note with a try from Captain Robert Collins converted by Luke Williams.

Final score 14-36 to Ferryside.

Not the result we would have hoped for but Cwmgwrach showed potential and guts, particularlu=y in the case of Jordan Williams.
